Personal Statement
From early childhood to the present, artistry and creativity have been forces that have proven to be formidable and inseparable from me. Born and raised in a large creative family, I am fortunate that I am not the only one in my clan that relishes and practices creativity on a daily basis. With 25 years of artistic experience, I bring with me a force of nature that began as a pastime and has now evolved into a professional lifetime commitment.
Mission
Here at CRW, my philosophy on contemporary art, craft and design is simply this: that my hands, heart and spirit are the collaborative team that make the magic happen and work. Without thought informed by my surroundings, there is no collaboration and input. From paintings to crafts, everything is made with a steady hand and a thoughtful mind. My mission is to create long lasting, compelling modern art, craft and design that will not only inform and educate all, but embolden all in the years to come.
About the Founder
Cheri Regis (known to some as Cher Bear) is a self-taught multidisciplinary artist, designer, writer and entrepreneur living and working in historic downtown Parkville, Missouri, in Kansas City’s Northland region. Specializing in painting, drawing, textiles, sculpture and toy design, Cheri’s studio practice is interdisciplinary and is a reflection of the time and environments she comes across. She is also a second generation soft doll designer, with her mother teaching her sewing and soft doll making at the age of 12. When she is not practicing modern creativity, Cheri can be found in places with stacks of good books, spending quality time with her clan or somewhere wreaking havoc and blowing up stuff. She is currently in her third year of college as a fine art and business administration (emphasis in digital marketing) double major at Park University in Parkville. Some of Cheri’s favorite research interests are modern and contemporary art, design, marketing, economics, entrepreneurship and innovation. Cheri is always “in the works”.
